Questions for Kids and World Trivia are chosen as 2004 Dr. Toy’s Best Children’s Vacation Products Award Winners
(Los Angeles, CA. June 24, 2004) – East West Discovery Press is proud to announce that Questions for Kids: A book to discover a child’s imagination and knowledge and World Trivia: The book of fascinating facts of culture, politics and geography written by Michael Smith are chosen as the 2004 Dr. Toy’s Best Children’s Vacation Products Award Winners.
Questions for Kids is a collection of 1,000 stimulating questions to ask children, 5-9 years old. The book is created to empower children’s critical thinking and to reinforce positive social and moral values. Designed to inspire young minds, these fun and educational questions can serve as catalysts for thought-provoking family and classroom discussions. As reviewed in the Readers Preference Reviews, Questions for Kids is “a recommended purchase for anyone seeking a starting place for expanding their child’s mind”. Typical questions include:
• Is there anything you can not buy with money? • Can you name some colors that are not in the rainbow? • What would you do if you were scared of someone at school? • What is the difference between a lake and an island? • Does their skin color make people smart or dumb? • What fruit has its seeds on the outside?
World Trivia reveals many amazing and amusing facts of culture, politics and geography around the world. Distinctly different from most trivia books, it illustrates a broad range of cultures and political realities with geographic and map information. The book is designed to enrich one’s knowledge of the world and its people. Children’s Literature described World Trivia as “interesting and amazing…great for social studies and sociology classes…family and friends games.” Dr. Toy commented that the book will help children enrich their knowledge, and is great for teaching as well as travel. Sample questions include:
• What is the only Asian country never to have been occupied by a foreign power? • In which country do women sometimes have more than one husband (not the other way around)? • In which country is collecting mushrooms a major national hobby? • Which continent has only one river?
Sponsored by the non-profit organization of Institute for Childhood Resources since 1989, the Dr. Toy’s Best Vacation Children’s Products Award was established by Dr. Toy, also known as Dr. Stevanne Auerbach who is internationally recognized as the preeminent child development specialist. This highly competitive award is presented to developmental and innovative products which help children develop active, creative and educational skills.
